Not unexpected, but interesting to see in map form nonetheless. While East Coasters constantly gave me shit for calling soft drinks “pop,” I think the Southern “coke” is a much more egregious offense.Started out calling it pop when I lived in Montana and Minnesota, started calling it soda when I lived in Wisconsin, and still call it soda now that I’m back in MN. I must be a total freak.
One of my roommates and I dedicated one semester sophomore year of college to saying the word soda instead of pop. It has stuck, not much else did from that semester though.
