- Israeli “filmmaker” SAM BACILE, whose “movie,” Innocence of Muslims, has sparked deadly demonstrations in Egypt and Libya, where the U.S. ambassador and three staffers were killed.  While expressing remorse for the deaths, Bacile, now in hiding, refuses to accept responsibility for them.

A consultant to the film, Steve Klein, says they were aware the film would provoke anger and protests.  ”We went into this knowing this was probably going to happen.”

Legally, we can’t say that these fuckers, then, are complicit in the murder of a U.S. envoy.

Wow. You would want to say these filmmakers were complicit in these murders? They might be foolish for making a movie that is likely going to spark violence, but the people being violent because someone is insulting their religion are the ones ultimately responsible, and quite frankly, having this sort of violent reaction to an idea is completely barbaric.

Religious extremism (of any denomination) that allows for violence as a justified reaction to non-violence is a threat to civilized society. In this instance, these rioters that committed the murders would probably have had Trey Parker and Matt Stone decapitated for depicting Mohammed in parody on South Park (had Comedy Central not had to censor that episode for fear of reactionary violence). 

I want to live in a society where you don’t have to fear violent retribution for having an opinion or expressing an idea, no matter how flawed or stupid that idea might be. Once you act then you are responsible for the results of that action.
