Yesterday we went to a Q&A/reading with author Tom Robbins at the beautiful Minneapolis Central Library. Robbins’ new book title B is for Beer lives up to his previous list of awesome titles (e.g. Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates, Jitterbug Perfume, Skinny Legs and All), though I’m not so sure about the book itself (based on the reading he did). Unfortunately the main room was so packed that we watched from a screen in one of two overflow rooms. Fortunately, I was one of the first people in line for the signing. Pictured is myself, Tiana, Tom Robbins, Bill, and Jessica.

I had a good time, but I probably had a better time after the talk at a bar down the street (they handed out coupons for one free beer). My friend Jessica’s dad Bill Tilton was an anti-war activist during the Vietnam War and member of the Minnesota 8, a well-known group of activists who raided draft boards in Minnesota. Bill’s story is compelling, and he was kind enough to share it. Click here to learn more about the Minnesota 8.
